Twas a blustery day
On St. Patty’s
I went looking for my Pot O’Gold
From Astoria
All the way to Tipperary
I brought me Bud’s
And me other friend Rheingold
When at last
I was feeling a wee weary
And the trail seemed to be getting quite cold
A Leprechaun!
Named Lil’ Bit of Luck
Suddenly left me quite cheery
With the monumental story of riches he told
The Lil’ Lad said in a vision
You must hurry!
Before the last darned ducat is sold!
Dancing a jig
That he called
Mega Millions!
He swore my Jackpot
In cursive tone
Hath been created!
From down yonder super-natural kaleidoscope
Straightaway I ran as fast as I could muster!
The winds were a-howling with bluster!
Scraping my legs from the thorns in the thicket
No more pain!
Promised again and again
The Great Money Spigot
When Holy Begorrah!
Stood a fabulously formed rainbow!
Perfectly centering the arch stood a tree
Jesus Mary and Joseph!
There was dangling a ticket!
Blowing in the breeze
All Night I dreamed of exorbitant riches!
Of new cars! A big house! And some new fancy britches!
I could barely wait to consume the Daily News
My excitement!
Propelling me forward
Awake from my slumber!
I was aghast
My heartbeat fast
As I soon discovered
The Lotto clerk smirked knowingly
At the results uncovered
I had not even hit one blasted number!
