Lil Bit O’ Luck and a Blustery St. Pat’s

Photo by Oleksandr Pidvalnyi on Pexels.com

Twas a blustery day

On St. Patty’s

I went looking for my Pot O’Gold

From Astoria

All the way to Tipperary

I brought me Bud’s

And me other friend Rheingold

When at last

I was feeling a wee weary

And the trail seemed to be getting quite cold

A Leprechaun!

Named Lil’ Bit of Luck

Suddenly left me quite cheery

The Lil’ Lad said in a vision

You must hurry!

Before the last ticket is sold!

Dancing a jig

That he called

Mega Millions!

He swore my Jackpot

Was on the other side

Of the Rainbow

Straightaway I ran just as fast as I could!

Scraping my legs from the thorns in the thicket

When Holy Begorrah!

Stood a fabulous Rainbow

And from a Tree Branch

There was dangling a ticket!

All Night I dreamed of exorbitant riches!

Of new cars!  A big house! And some new fancy britches!

I could barely wait to buy the Daily News

My excitement!

Propelling me awake from my slumber!

I was aghast

As I soon discovered

The Lotto results had uncovered

I had not even hit one blasted number!
